Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: Pangia Compendium – Addendum 5

Pangia Compendium – Addendum 5 is a free role playing game supplement published by Adventures in Filbar. This, as with the previous addenda (see 1,2,3 and 4), is intended for use with Pangia, the third continent for the Filbar setting and is intended to complement the Pangia Compendium. This supplement is, in theory, intended for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.

This is a 16 page PDF that lacks bookmarks and one page is the front cover, which follows the current standard format. This, as with the previous addenda, is a collection of fluff items.

Tobias “Steelhead” Gladstone is a story about a military officer who had his tongue removed and was sent to the arena after discovering potential problems being caused by the actions of a superior.

Muma Mengo tells how an adventuring party ended up in a secretive elven city.

Pangia Compendium - Addendum 5Hydo’s Wand is an in-character investigation into a magic item.

The Junius is a tale of a monster that is currently troubling a pirate island.

Fable of the Buffalo Men is a story about how one, or more, creatures similar to minotaurs, but with buffalo heads, helped tribes that were under attack by raiders.

Battle of Tears is a story of an early, failed, battle in an attempt by a colony to gain independence.

Chooken’s Pyre is a story of a burial that went wrong and resulted in a permanent flame spouting from a cliff.

The PDF lacks bookmarks, which would have been useful but are not entirely necessary. The text maintains a single column format and appeared nearly free of errors.

There are a number of illustrations. the majority of these would appear to be stock or public domain images, some of which have been tweaked slightly. In addition, each snippet has a graphic, most of which look to have been created in Coat of Arms Design Studio from Inkwell Ideas.

As stated at the beginning, this is in theory aimed at D&D 5E; however, it lacks any game stats and can be used with any system.

Many of the fluff pieces can also be used in any setting. Although they fit with the Pangia setting in Filbar, many could easily be transplanted to another setting, and probably all could with some tweaks. This makes it a useful collection of lore and legends to add depth to a setting.

Like the previous addenda, this is a really nice collection of fluff pieces that are easy to use. Pangia Compendium – Addendum 5 can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
