Scratch Builder Monthly July 2023 is a supplement written and published by MJ Hobby Corner for use with making cheap models, primarily for tabletop wargaming.
The supplement is available as a 61-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3. One page is the front cover, one the Contents and one the credits and links.
The Introduction takes a brief look at what’s in this issue.
RPG Corner explains that there isn’t much RPG stuff this month, except a new series will be starting on the YouTube channel, and that August should have more.
The Sculpting Bench looks at the process of sculpting a skeletal figure.
Anthems of War Stats has stats for the created figure for Anthems of War.
Anthems of War And Mist Effect looks at playing that game and using the mist generator introduced in the previous issue.
Working With Tinfoil looks at the process of creating a tinfoil figure, adding accessories to it and what’s next with the tinfoil.
Projects of the Month starts with making terrain for Reign in Hell, turning a cloth into a game mat, upgrading an old piece of terrain for the game and making lava geysers.
Project 2 Building Two Fantasy War Ships looks at the process of building the two ships, including weapons and extras, and including basic plans of each.
Boarding Actions! Dragon Rampart Rules looks at using the ships in a game.
Star Ships has a fleet update then covers the process of building a Taidan assault frigate with a side plan.
Game preview briefly looks at upcoming games.
Earth Elemental has a brief look at creating this figure.

Scratch Builder Monthly July 2023 in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. The Contents covers the major sections, though not all sections and names don’t always match up with the actual supplement. Navigation is okay. The text follows a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. There are a variety of photos of projects in various stages of construction, as well as some plans of projects. Presentation is good.
This is the usual combination of projects covered in enough detail that they can be duplicated to those that are just given an overview that has useful tips that can be used in things. Most of the materials used are cheap, and often can be categorised as rubbish, allowing decent outcomes to be made with little expense.
