Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: Yin Yang Panda – Ladybird Republic

Yin Yang Panda – Ladybird Republic by Łukasz Kołodziej is a free role playing game supplement published by Skavenloft. This is a supplement for Yin Yang Panda, which is based on Lasers & Feelings and is covered by the CC BY 4.0 license.

The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Table of Contents.

Yin Yang Panda - Ladybird RepublicThe Introduction explains this is a splatbook for Yin Yang Panda that covers the Ladybird Republic at the end of the Silkworm Road.

How to Use This is a standard section covering what’s needed; the normal material, this and the core book.

We Have Guests! is another standard section with six elements of the Ladybird Republic to encounter in the Dragonfly Empire.

We Are Guests! is another similar section, this time with six elements of the Dragonfly Empire to have in the Ladybird Republic.

The Ladybird Republic explains that the country is beyond the Locust Khanate and what the place trades.

Landscape gives details on the realm and explains that if both halves of the Realm of Two Sisters are used, the Hornet Unity is between the Republic and the Khanate.

Culture gives details on the realm’s culture.

Martial Arts explains that archery is the art of choice for those that live near the Khanate and fencing and other similar weapons become more popular to the west. Unarmed fighting is fit only for a tavern brawl.

Playing Aids has example names and surnames, d6 places to visit, folks to meet and folks to avoid, d12 treats to try and d6 weapons to master.

Finally, there are six new martial arts laid out in the standard way. These are lynx, boar, swallow, hamster, pheasant and stork.

Yin Yang Panda – Ladybird Republic in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, these would have been appreciated. The Table of Contents covers the major sections. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a handful of colour and black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.

Like others in the series, this gives an overview of a new area to explore with new elements to add to the game. As usual, it doesn’t cover the region in a great deal of detail, but enough to add some flavour and game elements. Unlike lands close to the Empire, this realm isn’t on the Atlas of the World. Yin Yang Panda – Ladybird Republic is a decent little expansion to the game and it can be found by clicking here.
