Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: Ten Likeable Kobolds – An NPC Collection

Ten Likeable Kobolds – An NPC Collection by Steven Chabotte is a generic role playing game supplement published by Lucky Dice Games.

The supplement is available as a 12-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front matter and three are ads.

The introductory page explains that this supplement has ten kobolds that can be added to a game, all of them lacking stats so they can be used with any system.

Ten Likeable Kobolds - An NPC CollectionThe kobolds are then described. Each is given a name, their appearance, personality, motivation, role playing tips and background.

Aziz is an insecure kobold who cultivates an aura of success and haughtiness.

Corli is a grumpy elderly kobold who can be turned much nicer with treats.

Ert is a kobold who blends into the background and has a habit of picking up small items.

Gura is an outgoing kobold who wants to be a member of the upper classes and not just a novelty.

Kerka is trapeze performer who stays in during the day.

Morto is a shy kobold who wants to be more social but struggles.

Troos is a kobold who always wants to be noticed.

Ven likes to fix broken things and is good at it.

Xalne is unusually short and hates to be looked down on because of this.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, has enough sections that these would have been appreciated. Navigation could be better. The text is primarily in the form of a single table and appears to be free of errors. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

This is a simple little supplement that details ten NPCs, all of whom happen to be kobolds. It might be possible to use the descriptions for other creatures too, though the descriptions in particular would need altering. Ten Likeable Kobolds – An NPC Collection is a decent little supplement that can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
