Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: Pathfinder Adventure: Little Trouble in Big Absalom

Pathfinder Adventure: Little Trouble in Big Absalom by Eleanor Ferron is a role playing game supplement published by Paizo for use with Pathfinder 2nd Edition. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 16-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. One page is the Table of Contents and front matter and one the Open Game License and back matter.

Pathfinder Adventure: Little Trouble in Big AbsalomAdventure Background explains that the Hookclaw kobolds live beneath Absalom, scavenging an existence. They’ve survived, but never in any great comfort or wealth. They’ve now broken into an underground treasure vault, and the tribe’s heroes – the player characters – are being dispatched to examine it.

Chapter 1: The Tomb has the characters exploring the brimming with treasure vault. Or, as it more properly is, filled with junk cellar of a house.

Chapter 2: Upstairs! is after the vault has been cleared. The characters head upstairs where the house’s owner, an elderly and short-sighted woman who mistakes the kobolds for local children, asks them to recover a magical hedge trimmer for her. She’s also a druid too powerful to mess with. This involves going out of the house and heading to another.

Adventure Toolbox explains that the characters will be playing as kobolds, which will be covered in the Advanced Player’s Guide. There are details on kobold heritages and feats, and a new magic item, the hedge trimmer.

The final five pages have five pre-generated characters.

Pathfinder Adventure: Little Trouble in Big Absalom in Review

The PDF lacks functional bookmarks. The Table of Contents covers the major sections. Navigation is adequate. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a variety of custom colour illustrations. Presentation is good.

This is a fun little adventure that shows just how things can change with perspective. It’s also basically a lengthy advert for the Advanced Player’s Guide, showcasing something that book is capable of.
