A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Weekly Wonders – Comic Book Vigilante Archetypes
Weekly Wonders – Comic Book Vigilante Archetypes by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as an eight-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.
The Introduction explains that the vigilante class that was introduced in Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Ultimate Intrigue opened up new options for players, specifically for the masked hero and that there were many different archetypes with abilities imitating comic book superheroes. There are far more superheroes than that, and this adds three more.
Archetypes starts with the Arrow of Justice, warriors who dedicate themselves to ridding the world of corruption and villainy through the use of projectile weapons. They are deadly with a bow and arrow, and can create various trick arrows, as well as choosing not to be deadly or shoot over great ranges. This would appear to be Green Arrow.
The Blitz is a combatant with superhuman speed. They can move faster than others, and their skills revolve around their ability to move to places with that great speed. This looks to be the Flash.
The Devil’s Eye sees without sight and hears without ears and uses these skills to achieve their goals. This looks to be Daredevil.
Weekly Wonders – Comic Book Vigilante Archetypes in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of colour stock illustrations. Presentation is okay.
This supplement does what it sets out to do; add three new comic book-based archetypes to the vigilante. The devil’s eye looks like it may be not as good as the other two, as it lacks a level 20 ability. Weekly Wonders – Comic Book Vigilante Archetypes can be found by clicking here.
