A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Weekly Wonders – Coin Magic

Weekly Wonders – Coin Magic by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a seven-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.

Weekly Wonders - Coin MagicThere are 15 new spells introduced in this supplement, all related to coins in some way.

Alter coin allows cosmetic changes to be made to a coin.

Coin carrier makes coins have negligible weight.

Coin foretelling allows a question to be asked that has a yes/no answer, which is answered by the flip.

Coin component converts coins into a spell component of equal or less value.

Coin conversion converts items into gold coins.

Coin trap, death turns a coin into a save or die item. Probably not popular.

Coin trap, energy fills a coin with a chosen type of destructive energy.

Coin trap, slag makes a coin destroy itself and others nearby. Also likely to be unpopular.

Create coins creates gold coins.

Cursed coin will curse anyone but the caster who owns the coin.

Inhabit coin turns a coin into a soul refuge and way of doing magic jar.

Lucky coin makes a coin add a luck bonus as well as altering throws.

Mage’s gamble makes a spelluser either regain all expended spells or lose their spellcasting ability for 1d4 days.

Scrying coin turns a coin into a scrying sensor that can be looked through.

Vanishing coin causes a coin to vanish and appear in a pocket dimension.

Weekly Wonders – Coin Magic in Review

The PDF is bookmarked with all sections linked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of error. There is a single stock illustration. Presentation is okay.

This supplement contains a range of coin-based spells, all the way from cantrips to level 9. Some spells are definitely better than the others and two, as mentioned, will probably be unpopular with players if used on them.
