A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Star City Snooper: Bot Trader
Star City Snooper: Bot Trader by Dave Woodrum is a generic role playing game supplement published by Fishwife Games.
The supplement is available as a seven-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale. One page is the front cover and one the front matter.
The Introduction explains that this is part of a series of supplements that detail various places found in a futuristic star faring city, and that if fulfils the same role for such settings as the Village Snooper series does for fantasy settings. It also explains that this covers a business that buys, sells and services a variety of used robots. Prices and stats have been omitted to make it generic, but there are suggestions as to the percentages the trader will pay for bots and parts in various conditions.
Floor Plan Locations takes up much of the supplement, and this describes the various different places in the business, starting with a general overview of the place before moving onto the detailed descriptions of the locations.
The final two pages of content have colour maps of the business, one labelled, for GMs, one unlabelled, for players.
Star City Snooper: Bot Trader in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these aren’t needed. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the maps, there are a couple of pieces of black and white art. Presentation is okay.
As mentioned in the Introduction, this does fulfil the same role for a futuristic location that the Village Snooper range does for fantasy ones, though it covers the location in greater detail. Though no stats are given, it should be easy enough to use this with a variety of settings, probably including the near future of cyberpunk. Star City Snooper: Bot Trader is a decent little supplement and it can be found by clicking here.
