Agrik: Warriors of Mameka

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Agrik: Warriors of Mameka

Agrik: Warriors of Mameka by Alun Rees is a role playing game supplement published by Columbia Games Inc. for use with HârnMaster.

The supplement is available as a four-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.99 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale.

The opening paragraphs explain that the Warriors of Mameka are the most politically powerful Agrikan fighting order on Hârn and are sponsored by the Order of Mamaka, Master of Steel. The order holds Bedenes Keep and the lands of Emesa Hundred, are strictly celibate and employ a unique martial art.

Agrik: Warriors of MamekaOrigins and History traces the Warriors back to the Corani legionnaires that protected the priests of the Order of Khamar and, following the founding of the Order of Mameka, provided the order with the strength to take and hold the Agrikan primacy.

Current Situation explains the Warriors believe they are on a divine mission to recover Kustan and find a sacred cairn; a crusade against the Kubora proved too much and after the losses manorial forces were drained to keep the garrisons at Bedenes and Golotha at full strength. The Warriors are also said to be on good terms with the Companions of Roving Doom. A sidebar has the coat of arms and a reference to the sacred texts.

Joining the Warriors explains how applicants may join the order and the different ranks, and the organisation of the Warriors, with a sidebar detailing equipment and skills.

Leadership of the Warriors gives details on the head of the Warriors and their immediate subordinates and their responsibilities.

Mamakan Blades describes the unique weapons belonging to the order, and Alchemical Weapons covers a number of alchemical grenades.

Agrik: Warriors of Mameka in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these are not essential. Navigation is okay. The text is either two columns or single column with sidebar and appeared to be free of errors. There are several pieces of black and white art as well as a colour representation of the coat of arms. Presentation is okay.

Though intended for use with HârnMaster, only the sidebar covering equipment and skills, and the details of the alchemical grenades, references HârnMaster stats; much of the supplement is effectively system neutral, meaning using it with other systems shouldn’t be too difficult. This supplement therefore provides useful details on one of the organisations of Hârn. Agrik: Warriors of Mameka can be found by clicking here.
