A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement A Little Bit of Ultra-Violence

A Little Bit of Ultra-Violence by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a Pay What You Want 19-page PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.

A Little Bit of Ultra-ViolenceThe opening paragraphs explain that a shipment of low-tech weapons has gone missing and the executive from a company in the Sonora sector – though not stated, the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space – in charge of the order is expected to kill himself as a result; he would prefer that the shipment be recovered before it being missing is discovered.

Patron gives some details on the merchant.

Complications are things that can go wrong, including the fact that gangs are a serious problem on the planet.

Random Encounters in the City has a random chance of encountering one of six gangs.

The Hulon Milk Bar details the location where the gang that stole the weapons can be found.

Weapons of Crerudat matches up improvised weapons used with ones from the book.

The Gangs of Crerudat lists the six gangs, with stats for members and details on their criminal activity.

Mission Completion Objectives explains that the shipment of weapons needs returning, that’s all.

GM Note explains that elements are based on A Clockwork Orange, which might have been identified from the quotes throughout or the milk bar.

The final page of content has a map of the milk bar.

A Little Bit of Ultra-Violence in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that they would have been useful. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. Bar the map and covers, there are no illustrations. Presentation is okay.

This is a straightforward enough adventure; go to a planet and find a missing shipment. Execution may be harder, given various gangs around and other issues such as enormous restrictions on more effective weapons meaning that using them could cause severe legal problems. This means that the characters may be more restricted in how they operate. A Little Bit of Ultra-Violence is a decent little adventure and it can be found by clicking here.
