A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement 20 Things #60: Minions of Evil (System Neutral Edition)
20 Things #59: Shadowed Borderland (System Neutral Edition) by Rikh Hart, Steve Hood and Mike Welham is a generic role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press. The supplement is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as an 11-page PDF for $3.75 from DriveThruRPG but was purchased at a reduced price thanks to a special offer. The supplement comes in three versions, two PDFs, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices, and a plaintext file. Two pages of the PDF are the front and rear covers, two pages are ads, one page is the front matter and Contents and one the Open Game License.
The supplement contains various NPC descriptions, all of whom could be working for a villain. Each has a name, alignment, species, sex, class and level, a description, personality, mannerisms and hook. Though they are divided into different categories, the category represents their use, not necessarily their class.
1: Assassins & Killers has a magic-user, assassin and thief.
2: Clerics & Priests has four clerics.
3: Fighters & Warriors has five fighters.
4: Sorcerers & Wizards has a sorcerer, evoker and wizard.
5: Thieves & Spies has three thieves, a druid and one missing the alignment, sex, species, class and level.
20 Things #60: Minions of Evil (System Neutral Edition) in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and an error with details missing as noted above was seen. There are a number of black and white illustrations. Presentation is decent.
This is rather different from most of the supplements in the 20 Things range. Though most have tables of differing lengths, rather than all having 20 results in them, this has no tables and there are only a handful of results for each section. Though this is system neutral, the class details are definitely aimed at Dungeons & Dragons and derivatives. 20 Things #60: Minions of Evil (System Neutral Edition) is a decent collection of NPCs and it can be found by clicking here.
