Yin Yang Panda – Cicada Principality by Łukasz Kołodziej is a free role playing game supplement published by Skavenloft. This is a supplement for Yin Yang Panda, which is based on Lasers & Feelings and is covered by the CC BY 4.0 license.
The supplement is available as a 14-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one page is the front matter and one the Table of Contents.
Introduction explains this is a splatbook containing details on the named country.
How to Use This explains that the core book is needed along with those items needed in general for the game.
We Have Guests! has a d6 table of Cicada-related encounters for the Dragonfly Empire.
We Are Guests! is similar, but the d6 table is for Dragonfly Empire-related encounters in the Cicada Principality.
The Cicada Principality gives an overview of the country.
Landscape describes its geographical appearance.
Culture is the Principality’s culture, which is heavily influenced by its proximity to the Spirit Realm.
Spirit Realm has some details on this, which is covered in more detail in its own splatbook.
Martial Arts gives an overview of the arts practiced in the Principality.
Playing Aids has tables for generating names, surnames, places to visit, people to meet, or avoid, spirits to encounter, treats to try and weapons to master.
Four new martial arts are described in the normal manner; duck, eel, weasel and woodpecker.
Yin Yang Panda – Cicada Principality in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough different sections that these would have been useful. The Table of Contents covers the main sections. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be almost free of error. There are some stock black and white illustrations. Presentation is adequate.
This is a useful supplement for the game giving an overview of a new area, with new options as well as new martial arts, making this a nice little supplement for expanding the game options and the setting. Yin Yang Panda – Cicada Principality can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
