People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: Steamship by Nathanael Christen is a role playing game supplement published by Pinnacle Entertainment via the Savage Worlds Adventurer’s Guild for use with Savage Worlds.
The supplement is available as a four-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG.
The opening paragraph explains that the interior of the United States posed a huge barrier for those on the coasts, prior to the railways, and most things were transported by ship to Panama and then through the canal.
Plot Hooks has several adventure hooks for using with a steamship.
Sidebars have rules for seasickness and storms.
Deck Plans and Descriptions has maps of a steamship with the various locations described.
Steamship Stats has game stats for the ship, and there’s also a mention of People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: Riverboat.
Character Stats has stats and details for various NPCs who would be encountered.
Ship-to-Ship Combat briefly covers some historical combat, and references chases and cannons from the core book.
People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: Steamship in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these aren’t really needed. Navigation is okay. The text is primarily two column format and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the maps, there are some stock black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.
This is a useful little supplement, both detailing a steamship and having various adventure hooks to use it in a game. People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: Steamship can be found by clicking here.
