People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Writer by Nathanael Christen is a role playing game supplement published by Pinnacle Entertainment via the Savage Worlds Adventurer’s Guild for use with Savage Worlds.

The supplement is available as a two-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG.

People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The WriterThe opening paragraph gives some information on the NPC, who is both a frontier folklore enthusiast, collecting tales that he then uses in dime novels, and also a muckraker journalist, finding out what the rich and powerful and companies are up to. He has both enemies and fans. Following this are his stats.

Rules for Writing has details on using the existing Savage Worlds rules and skills, rather than creating a new skill.

Plot Hooks has a list of adventure hooks that can be used with the NPC.

Writing as Social Conflict is a sidebar looking at playing out an election for sheriff using two rival newspapers each pushing a candidate.

Another sidebar has two examples of publications’ front pages.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is okay. The text primarily maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of error. There are some stock black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.

This supplement describes a single NPC, with the greatest amount of detail being devoted to the adventure hooks, of which there are a sizeable number. Given the NPCs activities, this also leads to a range of different kinds of adventures related to them. People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Writer can be found by clicking here.
