Weekly Wonders - Mirror Rituals

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Weekly Wonders – Mirror Rituals

Weekly Wonders – Mirror Rituals by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a nine-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.

The first page has some prose about the magic of mirrors.

Weekly Wonders - Mirror RitualsNew Occult Rituals has ten new occult rituals, as covered in the Occult Adventures book. There’s a sidebar on using Mirror Rituals in your own game, having it presented in-game as an actual book that can be found and learned from.

Alter reflection changes the nature of a target’s reflection, including adding one for those who lack one ore removing it entirely.

Create mirror twin creates a duplicate of the target, similar to the simulacrum spell.

Curse of shattering curses a target so that their body physically cracks and shatters like a mirror.

Mirror barrier creates a reflective wall-like effect that causes those trying to pass through it to double back on themselves.

Mirror bind binds the target inside a mirror.

Mirror of desire shows the most pressing desire of the creature looking into it.

Mirror of the past shows things that have been reflected in the mirror in the past.

Mirror of true form shows creatures as if they were being viewed with true seeing.

The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of stock colour images. Presentation is okay.

This supplement is interesting as it’s also intended to be a book that characters could find in-game and learn the rituals from. Some of the mirror rituals are powerful; indeed, they tend to be at the higher end of the scale. Some of the effects of failure can also be similarly powerful. Weekly Wonders – Mirror Rituals has an interesting collection of new rituals and it can be found by clicking here.
