Urban Locale #08: Jewellers by Robert Manson is a generic role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press.
The supplement is available as a 7-page PDF for $1.75 from DriveThruRPG but was purchased at a reduced price thanks to a special offer. The supplement comes in two versions, a plaintext file and a PDF. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two pages are ads and about half a page is the front matter and Contents.
Using this Urban Locale is a standard piece explaining how to use the lists and what each list covers. This is followed by a brief paragraph on jewellers, then the d10 lists.
1: The Jewellers has ten jewellers named and briefly described, along with their owner, who is named and given their name, alignment, species and sex, as well as sometimes age and/or class.
2: Major Locale Features has major pieces of dressing for the jewellers, though these are less major than is typical for the series.
3: Minor Locale Features covers more minor pieces of dressing.
4: What’s Going On? has ten things that can happen.
5: Other Folk has ten NPCs to encounter, each given a name, alignment, sex and species, and age in some cases, along with a brief description.
6: What’s For Sale? has ten pieces of jewellery to buy, though there’s nothing really special about any of it.
Urban Locale #08: Jewellers in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.
This is probably one of the less interesting entries in the series, although everything is thematically appropriate. There isn’t as much difference between the major and minor locale features as is normally the case; each, for instance, has a reference to a guard, with no real significant differences between them. The What’s For Sale? section feels like a missed opportunity; this is just pieces of jewellery to buy and characters are unlikely to buy such.
