Urban Dressing: Decadent Town by Josh Vogt is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 12-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, two the front matter, Contents and Foreword and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.
Decadent Town: Sights & Sounds is a d100 table of things that characters could see and hear in the town.
Decadent Town: Businesses is a d100 table with 50 results of businesses to encounter. Each is named, has the type of business given and has a brief description.
Decadent Town: Folk of Interest is a d100 table with 50 results of NPCs to encounter. These are given a name, their species, alignment, level and class, and a brief description.
Decadent Town: Hooks, Complications & Opportunities is a d20 table of possible adventure hooks.
Urban Dressing: Decadent Town in Review
The PDF is well bookmarked with major sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a few pieces of black and white stock art. Presentation is okay.
If this supplement has one major problem it’s that it doesn’t really feel like it’s describing a decadent town. A posh town, a noble town, a town of rich people, but rarely one that is decadent. As a result, it doesn’t feel so much as bad as it does misnamed; much of it doesn’t really fit the definition of decadence. Urban Dressing: Decadent Town can be found by clicking here.
