The Ruined Fortress is a role playing game supplement written and published by Sandbox Plots for use with Shadowdark. Though not stated inside the adventure itself, this is an adventure for first level characters.

Hooks and Rumors has four rumours to get characters involved.
History explains that a long-forgotten ruler left old fortresses scattered around, and that the soldiers at this one are mostly interested in gambling and drinking; it’s not made clear, but they are all undead. A boy from the local village stole an idol and is now trapped.
Future looks at what will happen if the characters don’t intervene.

The Ruined Fortress in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the map, there is a single black and white illustration. Presentation is okay.
This is a straightforward enough adventure; enter the fortress and defeat the undead living there. The undead are the only enemies to encounter, though they are behaving as if they were still alive. There is an assortment of treasures and dangers and some leads to the other adventures in this series. The Ruined Fortress can be found by clicking here.
