The New Fenvale Job

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement The New Fenvale Job

The New Fenvale Job is a solo role playing game supplement written and published by James B. Robinson for use with Pathfinder Second Edition and, as such, is covered by the ORC License.

The supplement is available as a 22 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the ORC License.

The New Fenvale JobThe supplement is a solo adventure gamebook for the system. After an opening description and copyright information, what action symbols are used in the supplement are covered and how some text is redacted and should only be read after something like a test is done to see the relevant results. This isn’t the easiest to access and may not work on some readers; on the reader used, it was necessary to copy the entire text and then paste it into something else in order to read it.

Pregenerated Character has a character that can be used with the adventure.

Adventure has the character being offered the job, a supposedly simple matter of couriering something across the city. If the character refuses, that’s the end of the adventure. It’s best not to refuse.

The rest of the adventure then follows, assuming the character agreed to the job. There are a variety of tests in different places, fights, chases and different options to choose in response to things.

Delivered is the end of the adventure, assuming the character made it that far.

The New Fenvale Job in Review

The PDF is extensively bookmarked, with by the looks of it everything linked. There are also a variety of internal links, taking the reader to different sections depending on what they choose to do in response to something. Navigation is good. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

This is an adventure gamebook of a type that should be familiar to many. It’s a solo one, so naturally can be played by one person, and there are a variety of challenges to face and choices to make. Overall, it seems like a decent enough solo adventure. The New Fenvale Job can be found by clicking here.
