Scratch Builder November November 2023 is a supplement written and published by MJ Hobby Corner for use with making cheap models, primarily for tabletop wargaming.
The supplement is available as a 47-page PDF from Wargame Vault. One page is the front cover, one the Contents and one the credits.
The Introduction looks at the growth of the Star Wars collection and other work done.
Simple Round Board looks at making a round board from primarily cardboard and different kinds of clay, covering all the steps and the painting.
What’s Next for Solo RPG looks at gaming solo with EZD6 as well as using an NPC emulator.
Ships for Galleys & Galleons has some fairly brief details on building ships for Galleys & Galleons using primarily cardboard and wood, along with some additional tips.
Projects of the Month has step by step instructions for building a TIE Defender from cardboard, beads and clay.
Tools for Making Both the Tie Fighters and the X wings looks at the various tools and adhesives used. After this are measurements for an X-Wing model and instructions for making it from primarily cardboard as well as wood and putty.
Foam Ships briefly looks at some unpainted ship models.
Tools of the Month looks at tweezers and cuticle scissors.
Gaming with Scratch Builds has some photos of builds being used.
Thank You! wraps things up.
Scratch Builder Monthly November 2023 in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. The Contents has a number of sections listed, but no page numbers. Navigation could be better. The text is either one or two column format and a variety of errors were noticed. There are a variety of colour photos of tools, materials, project stages and finished projects. Presentation is good.
Though this is shorter than some of the issues, more of the content covers projects in detail, meaning that more of it can be used to construct models rather than being just used as inspiration. The majority of the content is for Star Wars, though, but those techniques could always be adapted to other games. Scratch Builder Monthly November 2023 can be found by clicking here.
