Scratch Builder March 2026 Issue

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Scratch builder March 2026 Issue

Scratch builder March 2026 Issue is a supplement written and published by MJ Hobby Corner for use with making cheap models, primarily for tabletop wargaming.

The supplement is available as a 44-page PDF for $3 from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, one the Table of Contents and two are credits, ads and links.

March 2026 Edition explains that this issue looks at using plastic bottles to make miniature transport models. It looks at the varying purposes these ships might have in 28mm scale, including as terrain, and that ships can be designed in different ways.

Craft Discussions starts by looking at how large models of transports and gunships can be used in sci-fi war games.

Scratch Builder March 2026 IssueHistory of 28mm Fliers in my Collection looks at some specific models, how they were made and how you can create lore for them and what this does.

Model Recycling shows a model starship that didn’t quite fill the need repurposed into terrain, in this case a wreck.

The Small Scales/ Alternate History looks at using bottles that work with a 6mm scale, as opposed to 28mm, when crafting ships, with some examples.

What’s Next explains what 28mm scale models are in the works.

Project of The Month has the concept, materials and building instructions, including painting, for a specific model of bottle-based ship.

Thoughts has some final thoughts on the building methods.

Quick Star Destroyer builds one from single corrugated cardboard.

Low Budget Alien Table Top briefly considers alien terrain.

Let the Games Continue! is a thankyou page.

Scratch builder March 2026 Issue in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. The Table of Contents covers the major sections. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. There are a variety of photos of tools, materials and the various stages of projects from started to finished. Presentation is good.

This primarily has instructions on how to build one type of spaceship, and the Star Destroyer. Though the specific instructions given are for one type of ship, the techniques will transfer across to similar types, and can be used as a springboard for making others; even at 6mm scale if the slight changes required for changes of scale are used, looking for smaller items to make the ships with.
