Planets by Joseph Mohr is a generic role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing.
The supplement is available as a 20 page Pay What You Want Supplement from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers and three the front matter.
The opening paragraphs explain that exotic planets are the stuff of science fiction, and that this supplement lists various different types of planets that can be used in such games. Some of the planet types are well known, some are theoretical, some have potentially been observed as exoplanets and some are imaginary.
Following this are the planet types themselves. These are divided into Rocky, Gas Giants, Ice Giants, Water Rich Worlds and Ocean Planets, Desert, Dry and Arid Planets, Volcanic and Geologically Active Worlds, Atmospheres, Planets Classified by their Orbits, Planets Classified by Habitability and Climate, Theoretical Planets that Might or Might Not Exist and Notable Planets from Science Fiction. Each is covered in a similar manner, with an introductory paragraph followed by the various sub-types, each of which has a paragraph to describe them.
Conclusion wraps things up.
Planets in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. As well as the covers, there are a couple of full-page colour illustrations. Presentation is okay.
What this supplement isn’t and doesn’t pretend to be is a list of example planets, though some specific ones from science fiction are mentioned. Instead, it’s resource of different types of planets that could be used to spark ideas to create a specific one. It’s also not aimed at any system in particular, making it usable for most systems.
