People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Mission

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Mission

People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Mission by Nathanael Christen is a role playing game supplement published by Pinnacle Entertainment via the Savage Worlds Adventurer’s Guild for use with Savage Worlds.

The supplement is available as an eight-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $0.50 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a bundle.

The opening paragraph explains that a group of religious pilgrims were attacked and some heroes came to their aid and were recruited for the rest of the journey to an old Catholic mission.

People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The MissionThe Introduction explains that the heroes are travelling with the settlers for one reason or another, and may have encountered them during People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: A Horse Without a Rider.

Scene 1 – The Journey has the travellers setting out with descriptions of the major settlers. The journey is briefly covered in the text.

Scene 2 – Settling In has the party arriving at the old mission and the process of restoring it, along with a map and events.

Scene 3 – Meeting the Native People has the locals arriving and probably getting on reasonably well.

Scene 4 – Truth and Consequences explains that once a mine is found, with the mine being covered, there will be consequences.

Epilogue wraps things up and has suggestions for further adventures.

Appendix 1: NPCs has the stats and descriptions of the NPCs.

Appendix 2: Travel Map shows the route followed.

Appendix 3: The Clues has two clues that can be used as handouts.

People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Mission in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these aren’t really needed. Navigation is okay. The text is primarily two column format and one minor error seemed to occur; in different places, the mine was referred to as a gold mine or a silver mine. As well as the maps, there are some stock black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.

This is a short adventure, though the time taken for the journey means that the GM could expand that part of it if desired. There are a number of ways that things can turn out, depending on what happens in relation to the mine, which means the epilogue is harder to define. With some tweaks, it could be possible to use this in another similar setting, or with a Weird West setting. People, Plots and Places of the Wild West: The Mission can be found by clicking here.
