Floodplains of Illamoor

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Floodplains of Illamoor

Quest has where the characters begin to look for the sword.

Modifying Cairn for Hexcrawl explains how the rules were modified for this.

Wilderness Exploration Cycle has a five-step process for exploring.

Additional Notes has some notes on exploring.

Encounter by Terrain has d6 encounter tables for the different terrain types.

Region Descriptions has overviews of the different terrains.

Rumors has a d10 table of rumours.

Floodplains of Illamoor in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. As well as the map there are some black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.

As mentioned in the supplement, most of the hex map hasn’t been detailed. In addition, those parts which have been detailed haven’t been covered in any great depth. In many ways, this is more of a skeletal structure for a hexcrawl that could be fleshed out a lot more by a GM; there’s potential, but it needs expanding.
