Fish!Fish!Fish! by Strano Riddle is a role playing game supplement published by Chaosium Inc. through the Miskatonic Repository Community Content Programme for use with Call of Cthulhu, the horror role playing game based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
The supplement is available as a 21 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Contents.
Shitouyu Island explains that the small coastal city has become home to Deep One Hybrids who scattered from Innsmouth after the attack. Though older ones know, many children do not.
Dredging Project explains that this uncovered a long-forgotten gate which has called to some of the hybrids and a child has gone missing.
Pollution explains that the gate has caused pollution that badly affects humans, and some hybrids want to return home.
The Temptation of Homecoming explains that the Keeper shouldn’t let the characters know that they have Deep One blood, but will suffer effects through the adventure that may see them transform.
Beginning is the introduction for the characters, explaining that a friend of theirs has gone missing and they go looking. Much of the adventure after this is taken up by details of the various places that the characters can go to investigate and what they can discover there. This part is sandbox, but there’s also a time limit related to the gate, and there’s a culmination with a chase by Deep Ones.
Success covers what happens if the characters successfully close the gate.
Failure covers what happens if they don’t.
Special Riles: Elementary School Investigators has rules for the characters, as they are all about ten years old.
The final page of content has a handout that’s done like a paper.
Fish!Fish!Fish! in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with the various sections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are some stock colour images. Presentation is decent.
As-is, this is a modern-day scenario with young investigators, and given its location, it’s best suited as a one-shot. Though it might be possible to modify it to a different time period and different location, this would require a lot of changes to be made and wouldn’t be easy. The adventure also sees the characters start off doing one thing, looking for a friend, but to succeed, they need to do something else; their friend has already changed.
