Fear and Loathing in Aragón by Mariano Ojeda is a role playing game supplement published by Makmanaman for use with Savage Worlds.
The supplement is available as a ten page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover.
The Introduction explains that the adventure is intended for 3-4 characters of Novice Rank with fewer than three advances, and at the end are four pre-generated characters. Some of the skills have been intentionally inflated, so that the characters have a better chance of surviving, and that Sanity is included if the horror genre rules are used. It also says the adventure could be moved to other places, preferably those with livestock and few inhabitants. It also says not to let Insanity check fails kill characters or complicate things if you don’t want.
Chapter 1: A Relaxing Getaway in the Countryside explains the characters are university students staying at a rural guesthouse in the village of Villalcaide del Alberge in Aragón and has them heading there.
Chapter 2: Breathing in the Rural Aromas has the characters arrive at the farm.
Chapter 3: Wild Porcine Horror has the farm’s pigs go on a rampage, killing and eating everyone.
Chapter 4: Villalcaide del Alberge Welcomes You has the climax in the village.
Player Characters covers the pre-generated characters.
Enemy Statistics has the stats for them.
Fear and Loathing in Aragón in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, has enough sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of maps and a single black and white illustration. Presentation is okay.
As designed, this adventure is best used as a one-shot, though as mentioned it could be customised to be different and part of a campaign. It’s also one in which the characters could easily be killed, so if part of a campaign it may also need some changes. The adventure also leans definitely towards the horrific, making it best used in a horror campaign. Fear and Loathing in Aragón can be found by clicking here.
