Extravagant Sehlkwen's Rumours of Treasure

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Extravagant Sehlkwen’s Rumours of Treasure

Extravagant Sehlkwen’s Rumours of Treasure is a role playing game supplement written and published by Christian E R Hendriks for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. As such, it is covered by both the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License and the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

Extravagant Sehlkwen's Rumours of TreasureThe supplement is available as a 14 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one and a half the front matter, two the Open Game License and one is blank.

The opening paragraphs explain that Extravagant Sehlkwen, Salt-Goddess of Trade, knows about magic items. The supplement is set in the world of Planegea, and references The Star-Shaman’s Guide to Planegea. It’s also a preview for the upcoming The Many Treasures of Sehlkwen’s Hallow, and was written in haste.

Items covers the various different magic items. There are 27 in total, of many different kinds and types. A handful of sidebars cover things such as a new spell, monsters and identifying items.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, given its nature, these would have been helpful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and it appeared to be generally free of errors, though as noted it was produced in a rush. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

A note on the licenses. Two have been used, the OGL for the Planegea Open License, and CCBY4 for the 5th Edition content.

Though this is written for the Planegea setting, this doesn’t mean that it can be only used with that. This is, after all, a collection of different magic items that could be used with pretty much any setting, though in some cases a few tweaks may need to be made. Otherwise, it’s a useful collection of items. Extravagant Sehlkwen’s Rumours of Treasure can be found by clicking here.
