Confectionary Chaos

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Confectionary Chaos

Confectionary Chaos is a role playing game supplement written and published by Grey Wolf Writes for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. This is an adventure for 4-6 characters of 5th level.

Adventure Background explains how the Crumble sisters, following the demise of their mother, fought bitterly over her enchanted kitchen tools, each taking one. However, the two tools were part of an artefact and separating them has warped the local magic and driven the sisters to hyper-competitive madness with their creations gaining a life of their own.

Confectionary ChaosAct I: The Frosting Frenzy & The Bookstore Rescue has the characters seeing the starting chaos and rescuing an embattled NPC from a bookshop. There’s a d6 table of random encounters.

Act II: The Sticky Square has a battle between the rival sweet factions in the market square.

Act III: The Shop Interiors & Showdown has the interiors of both shops and what’s needed to stop the chaos.

Monster & NPC Stat Blocks has the various stats; the monsters are confectionary in nature.

Unique Themed Magic Items has a number of magic items following the confectionary theme.

Resolution & Ending the Spell has how the spell can be ended.

The final page of content has a map of the market square and the relevant shop interiors.

Confectionary Chaos in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, has enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. Bar the map, the only illustrations are some coloured icons at the start of the sections. Presentation is okay.

This is a short, not entirely serious, adventure, though it still has potential hazards. It should be possible to drop it into various settings in an appropriate location, such as a large village or small town. Confectionary Chaos can be found by clicking here.
