A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Burial Mound of Ilya the Cunning

Burial Mound of Ilya the Cunning is a role playing game supplement written and published by Sandbox Plots for use with Shadowdark. Though not stated inside the adventure itself, this is an adventure for characters of levels 2-3.

The supplement has a three page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. About half a page is credits and blank.

General Information has some details on the supplement’s layout and the burial mound.

Hooks and Rumors has rumours to get the characters involved.

Random Encounters has a d6 table of sounds and smells that for four of them indicate the presence of monsters.

The exterior of the mound is then described before moving onto the interior. The interior is large enough for quite a few different monsters, as well as some undead.

Burial Mound of Ilya the Cunning in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these aren’t needed. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be mostly free of errors. There is a single stock black and white illustration, as well as the map. Presentation is okay.

This is a straightforward enough exploration of a small burial mound. There are a surprising number of different creatures that can be encountered, as well as some points of interest. Burial Mound of Ilya the Cunning can be found by clicking here.
