An Inconvenient Inventory

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement An Inconvenient Inventory

An Inconvenient Inventory is a role playing game supplement written and published by Matt Fudemoto for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.

The supplement is available as a 16 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Table of Contents.

About This Adventure explains this is for 3-4 characters of 1st or 2nd level, in which they are assigned to a magical shipping company’s warehouse when there’s a problem. There are notes on running it.

An Inconvenient InventoryClocking In has the characters start their shift and get equipped.

The Receiving Area covers this part of the warehouse where goods arrive and the disaster that happens.

The Warehouse Floor covers this part of the warehouse and tracking down something there.

The Offices covers these and allows characters to discover more about the business.

The Boss’ Office covers the final main location and the boss, and the potential outcomes.

Appendix A: Warehouse Map is the map.

Appendix B: Creatures has new monsters.

Appendix C: Magic Items has new magic items.

Appendix D: Character Profiles has backstories and details for four characters, a barbarian, a cleric, a bard and a wizard, which are tied to why they are working on the job.

An Inconvenient Inventory in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. The Table of Contents covers the various sections and subsections, and is technically hyperlinked but the links are broken. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. Bar the map, there are no illustrations apart from one duplicated from the cover. Presentation is okay.

This adventure will only work in a very high magic world, one where magic is common enough that magic items are created for money in large enough bulk that they can be shipped through a warehouse. The company the characters work for has some, possibly not coincidental, similarities to something like Amazon, as well as being a shady operation. The adventure itself primarily consists of dealing with an accident with incoming goods which could be very dangerous for low level characters, and then dealing with the aftermath.
