Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: FT – Village of Tomore

FT – Village of Tomore is a free role playing game supplement published by Adventures in Filbar. This is one in the FT range of supplements which primarily cover urban areas, in this case a small farming village and caravan stop. Tomore itself is close to Darkwood Forest and is the starting point for FN7 – Ruins of Tarlac Keep. The supplement is stated as being primarily intended for the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and AD&D 2nd Edition games.

This is a seven page PDF which lacks bookmarks. One page is the front cover featuring the Adventures in Filbar logo, around half a page is the menu from the village inn and almost all of one page is a map of the village, which consists of various features placed onto a hex grid.

FT - Village of TomoreThe rest of the supplement describes the village itself. There is a brief introduction as to the location of the village and its flavour. There are twenty locations detailed, which is all the locations on the map of the settlement. Each shows what the location each – business, farm, shop, private residence – as well as the name of the primary NPC and their race, if non-human. Each also has a paragraph describing the place and the NPC.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and they aren’t essential for one of this length although they would have been appreciated. The text maintains the publisher’s standard single column layout with border and no errors were noticed. There are no illustrations bar the map which, whilst not spectacular, is perfectly serviceable.

Although stated as being for the AD&D game, the supplement lacks any stats so it can easily be adapted to any system. Tomore itself is in a border area of the Filbar setting (presumably a safe border, as the village lacks any defences) and there is reference to the Caravan Masters, an important trade organisation in the setting, but this and a couple of brief mentions as to the origins of NPCs, are the only real connections to the setting. As such, Tomore can easily be placed in a similar area in another setting, or even in a more civilised area as opposed to a safe border region. It really isn’t suited for a more dangerous area.

FT – Village of Tomore is a decent description of a tiny village and it can be found for free by clicking here.
