Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: 5E Mini-Dungeon #156: Bloodsuckers

5E Mini-Dungeon #156: Bloodsuckers by Colin Stricklin is a role playing game supplement published by AAW Games for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. This is an adventure for 8th level characters.

5E Mini-Dungeon #156: BloodsuckersThe supplement is available as a two-page PDF for free from DriveThruRPG.

Half of the first page is a labelled map of the dungeon.

The Introduction and Background explains that the Countess Carmilla Mora died amid rumour and scandal, just as she had lived. She was believed to be a vampire, and many vampire hunters have come to her tomb to defeat her. Garlic usage in the area has increased. However, the countess was a show woman, not a vampire. That doesn’t mean her tomb is safe, though.

Next is a description of a ring that the countess owns, that wasn’t the costume jewellery she believed.

The rest of the supplement is taken up by the dungeon itself.

The PDF lacks bookmarks, and at only two pages doesn’t need them. The text maintains a two-column format which appeared to be free of errors. There is a single colour illustration, presumably of the primary foe, as well as the colour map. Presentation is decent; sadly, the map doesn’t come in a player friendly version.

The mini-dungeons, in order to fit on the two pages, lack stats for any of the creatures, spells and traps used. Instead, these are linked to the 5E SRD site. However, the links for the monsters link to the front page of the site, not the entries. Fortunately, given that the come from Tome of Beasts and Creature Codex, these entries are on the site, but they will be need searching for. Other than that, this is a decent little adventure where the foe is not what might be expected. 5E Mini-Dungeon #156: Bloodsuckers can be downloaded for free by clicking here.
