10 Animalistic Features

Free Role Playing Game Supplement Review: 10 Animalistic Features

10 Animalistic Features by Travis Legge is a role playing game supplement for Vampire: The Masquerade published by White Wolf through the Storytellers Vault Community Content Programme.

The supplement is available as a 9-page PDF for free from Storytellers Vault. Two pages are the front and rear covers and four are the front matter.

The supplement is intended to be used with Clanbook: Gangrel and it opens by saying that the beast is never far from claiming control over the Kindred. For Clan Gangrel, this is even more true, and the supplement has ten features for Gangrel to acquire after a frenzy. These features should only come at an advanced state of the Gangrel’s unlike and often endanger the Masquerade by their hard to hide appearance. The features also have game effects.

10 Animalistic FeaturesHide is thickened skin, similar to an elephant or hippopotamus, and gives a natural armour rating.

Horns can come in many different appearances and they give a gore attack.

Hooves are cloven or single and grant a damaging kick.

Marsupial Pouch gives a small pouch useful for storing things.

Permanent Claws grant a claw attack.

Prehensile Feet allows feet to be used for the same tasks as hands.

Prehensile Tail gives a tail capable of manipulating things but which is uncomfortable to hide.

Spines grow from the skin and can be used as a weapon.

Tentacles are sprouted from the torso and give advantages when grappling or swimming.

Whiskers reduce the difficulty of Perception checks but are uncomfortable to hide.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these are not needed. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of error. There are a couple of black and white stock illustrations. Presentation is okay.

This supplement adds new options for Clan Gangrel vampires and these options do have benefits as well as problems, though benefits may not outweigh the potential problems of keeping the features hidden. 10 Animalistic Features is a nice little supplement, especially as it’s free, and it can be downloaded by clicking here.
