Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #46: High-Tech Weapons 4

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #46: High-Tech Weapons 4

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #46: High-Tech Weapons 4 is a role playing game supplement published by Skirmisher Publishing for use with the Mutant Future system. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License though no parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. The Wisdom from the Wastelands series introduces new options for Mutant Future and this one has a selection of advanced weapons.

The supplement is available as a seven-page PDF on DriveThruRPG for $0.99 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the Open Game License and front matter and one is ads.

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #46: High-Tech Weapons 4The opening paragraph explains this is the fourth instalment in the series.

The Atomic Modification System converts part of the target’s carbon into silicon, causing massive damage and a pulse of heat and radiation (this is rather reminiscent of the basilisk gun from The Laundry Files). The weapon comes in different sizes.

The Beam Laser emits a constant energy stream, rather than a pulsed one, increasing accuracy, damage and energy use, and comes in a variety of sizes.

The Dart Gun has limited range and penetration and injects the target with various substances, with poisons and tranquilisers being the most common. Again, there are different sizes.

The Micro Nuclear Warhead Launcher was designed to overcome the personal shields seen in Issue #22. This is what it sounds like; a weapon capable of firing a small nuclear warhead that, whilst it admittedly doesn’t do the damage of even a suitcase nuke, will ruin the day of most targets and cause a whole bunch of radiation aftereffects for any survivors. This comes in different types of launcher and different warhead yields.

The Warp Energy Blaster is a weapon capable of passing through physical barriers, though not shields. Again, it comes in different sizes.

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #46: High-Tech Weapons 4 in Review

The PDF is bookmarked, with major sections linked. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are some stock tweaked colour images. Presentation is okay.

This is another collection of high-tech weapons, each with benefits and disadvantages. They come in different sizes and therefore levels of power, though a Mutant Lord should still probably be careful before allowing characters to tote around personal nuclear weapon launchers.
