Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #37: Plant Mutants III

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #37: Plant Mutants III

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #37: Plant Mutants III is a role playing game supplement published by Skirmisher Publishing for use with the Mutant Future system. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License though no parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. The Wisdom from the Wastelands series introduces new options for Mutant Future and this one is essentially a bestiary of creatures.

The supplement is available as a seven-page PDF on DriveThruRPG for $0.99 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the Open Game License and front matter and one is ads.

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #37: Plant Mutants IIIThe opening paragraph explains that there is a great deal of variety within the plant kingdom and, though Issue #34 and Issue #36 used a more normal botanical approach to mutant plants, this one takes an entirely different approach.

Bonevine is a huge vine that primarily lives underground in desert regions. Due to this, it doesn’t get enough energy from photosynthesis and will devour any creatures that come in range.

Demon’s Walking Stick is an alien plant that dwells and mountains and draws lightning to power its abilities. It’s toxic, glows with strange colours that incapacitate the viewer and shoots bolts of radiation.

Dizzy Weed is a small (probably; at one point it looks like inches were mistakenly done as feet) plant that emits gasses that confuse, explode and glow.

Red Sac is a mutant Venus fly trap that sprays a paralytic poison gas.

Sky Juniper are giant floating junipers resembling dirigibles.

Snow Cyclops are cherry trees that have a large vegetative eye.

New Plant Diseases has four new diseases so that plants can benefits from this joy of the wastes.

New Mutations has eight new mutations used by the new creatures, which can be used for non-plant mutants in some cases.

Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #37: Plant Mutants III in Review

The PDF is bookmarked, with major sections linked. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be almost free of errors. There are some stock tweaked colour images. Presentation is okay.

Again, this is a collection of new plant mutants like the two previous issues, though there are less plants in this one and more options instead. These plant mutants start at middling levels and go up from there; some can be very deadly. Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #37: Plant Mutants III is another decent collection of monsters and it can be found by clicking here.
