A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Weekly Wonders – Rituals of the Deep Ones

Weekly Wonders – Rituals of the Deep Ones by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a nine-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.

The first page of content has some prose related to the subject matter.

New Occult Rituals explains that these are intended for use with the rules found in Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Occult Adventures. A sidebar explains that the characters could find a copy of the book, how they can learn the rituals and the book’s value.

Contact deep one allows the user to contact one of these.

Create kelp strangler allows the caster to create several of these.

Dedication to the sea grants bonuses to those targeted if touching water.

Deep dreams enables those who sleep near a target object to link to the dreams of a sea creature.

Doorway of the deep creates a whirlpool and a sidebar suggests Cerulean Seas as a supplement with rules on such.

Gift of the siren removes the ability to breathe air but grants that of breathing water.

Gilded waves casts valuable objects below the waves in the area onto the shore.

Ocean’s bounty attracts fish and aquatic creatures.

Summon storm summons one of these and a sidebar looks at ships in storms.

Veil of the landwalker transforms a creature into a human, dwarf, elf, gnome or halfling version of themself.

Weekly Wonders – Rituals of the Deep Ones in Review

The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of error. There is a single colour illustration. Presentation is okay.

This has a number of powerful occult rituals, ranging from level 4 to 9; the rituals are powerful enough to limit those able to cast them.
