A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Weekly Wonders – Raiment of the Lich King

Weekly Wonders – Raiment of the Lich King by Alex Riggs and Joshua Zaback is a role playing game supplement published by Necromancers of the Northwest for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

Weekly Wonders - Raiment of the Lich KingThe supplement is available as an eight-page PDF from the Open Gaming Store for $1.49 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and one the Open Game License.

Raiment of the Lich King gives the history of the lich king Veloch and his quest to rule the world before he was defeated by a group of heroes and the armies of everyone who could fight. His raiment was dispersed amongst the heroes afterwards. The raiment of the lich king consists of seven magical objects, and when two or more of them are possessed, there is a benefit from doing so; there are more benefits the more objects possessed. Each of the seven objects – amulet, boots, cloak, crown, gauntlets, ring and staff – is described, with details as to where they currently are and what they look like. Following the fluff descriptions are the game stat descriptions for the various objects.

The PDF is bookmarked with most sections linked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of pieces of black and white stock art. Presentation is okay.

Each of the individual magic items is useful, with the staff being perhaps the most powerful as it can be used to cast any necromantic spell of 5th level or lower. It is when they start being combined, however, that they get more powerful. This opens up the possibility of running an entire campaign around the objects; perhaps the characters are trying to collect them all or, more on the side of good, perhaps they are trying to stop someone else from doing so. Weekly Wonders – Raiment of the Lich King is an interesting collection of magic items and it can be found by clicking here.
