Urban Dressing: Graveyards

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Urban Dressing: Graveyards

Urban Dressing: Graveyards by Brian Liberge is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 14-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.45 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one an ad, three the front matter, Contents and Foreword and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.

Urban Dressing: GraveyardsThe supplement is intended to create dressing for graveyards and consists of several options.

A: Characteristics and Appearance starts with definitions of several terms, along with sidebars on the effects of hallowed and unhallowed ground. Following these are Area Features, which are what every graveyard has, a d6 table of minor events and a d20 table of graveyard descriptions.

B: Grave Markings starts with a d20 table to determine what type of grave marking a grave, has; none is an option. Following are d20 tables for describing headstones, sarcophagi and mausoleums, and a d20 table of epitaphs.

C: Associated NPCs has ten NPCs to encounter in the graveyard. Each is given a name, alignment, class and level, appearance, personality, mannerisms and hooks.

D: Hooks, Complications & Opportunities is a d20 list of potential adventure hooks.

Urban Dressing: Graveyards in Review

The PDF is well bookmarked with everything but sidebars linked. The Contents is less thorough and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of black and white illustrations. Presentation is decent.

This is a decent collection of tables for fleshing out a graveyard. Though there are only 20 main graveyard descriptions, the various different tables mean that it is possible to create a wide range of graves to flesh each out. Urban Dressing: Graveyards is a nice little supplement and it can be found by clicking here.
