A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement The Dee Sanction: The Harrowing of Harlow Hall

The Dee Sanction: The Harrowing of Harlow Hall by Richard Augustand and Paul Baldowski is a role playing game supplement published by Just Crunch Games for use with The Dee Sanction.

The supplement is available as a 2-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.81 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a bundle.

The Dee Sanction: The Harrowing of Harlow HallThis is an adventure for the system and is intended for 3-6 agents and that it is probably not their first mission.

The agents are asked to look into a former agent, and the initial information gives background on this agent and how he ascended to a notable position of wealth and power. Dr Dee was already suspicious before he got a letter from the former agent’s wife, but doesn’t know the full extent of the situation.

Most of the remainder of the supplement is taken up by descriptions of the various rooms of Harlow Hall, and a sidebar notes that some of this content may be upsetting.

Should the agents survive, the adventure may have a notable effect on the Dee Sanction, resulting in greater scrutiny of all agents.

The Dee Sanction: The Harrowing of Harlow Hall in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a four-column landscape format, which is difficult to read on smaller devices without zooming, and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single illustration, a map of Harlow Hall. Presentation is adequate.

This is a simple enough adventure in concept. The characters go to Harlow Hall and investigate it, discovering various things as they do so. There are no diversions elsewhere and plenty of threats in the hall, making this an adventure with just one location, though that doesn’t mean it’s safe; there are plenty of dangers to encounter, especially as the characters are entering ignorant of what’s really going on. And, as mentioned, some content may be disturbing. The Dee Sanction: The Harrowing of Harlow Hall can be found by clicking here.
