So What's For Sale, Anyway? V

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement So What’s For Sale, Anyway? V

So What’s For Sale, Anyway? V by Julian Neale and Trevor Self is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

So What's For Sale, Anyway? VThe supplement is available as a 20-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.99 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter, Contents and Foreword, one page is an ad and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.

The Foreword explains that the supplement contains intelligent items that could be found for sale, or in treasure.

Using this Supplement explains that few of the items are likely to be found for sale. There are tables of the items listed by price and settlement size, with pages numbers, and by slot, again with page numbers. There’s also a d20 table of ways intelligent items could be encountered.

The items are then described. There are five armour, eight weapons, three rings, three rods and thirteen wondrous items. Each is laid out in a similar manner. There’s the item’s name, and the name of the intelligence, a description, stats, lore, personality, including alignment, background and other abilities.

The PDF is well bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents is to less depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and a number of minor errors were noticed. There are a number of black and white illustrations. Presentation is okay.

This isn’t like any of the other entries in the So What’s For Sale, Anyway? series. Not that this is a bad thing; it’s just that it feels like it should be its own kind of supplement and not lumped in with the rest of the series. Really, intelligent items are less likely to be found for sale by their very nature, which is mentioned. This shouldn’t be regarded as a list of items to be found for sale, but as a resource of interesting intelligent items that can be found, or used to equip NPCs. So What’s For Sale, Anyway? V is an interesting collection of items and it can be found by clicking here.
