Sjafta, The Abandoned Iron Mine is a role playing game supplement written and published by Sandbox Plots for use with Shadowdark. Though not stated inside the adventure itself, this is an adventure for characters of levels 3-4.
The supplement has an eight page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. About half a page is credits and blank.
General Information has some details on the supplement’s layout, the mine and encounters.
Hooks and Rumors has several rumours to get the characters involved.
History gives a history of the mine, who it was owned by and how it became to be taken over by other occupants. The mine shares campaign elements with other supplements from the publisher.
Future has what might happen depending on the characters’ actions.
Random Encounters has encounters in the mine.
The rest of the supplement is taken up by descriptions of the locations in the mine, which has two levels.
Sjafta, The Abandoned Iron Mine in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, these would have been useful. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be mostly free of errors. There are a variety of stock black and white illustrations, as well as the map.
This is a straightforward enough adventure, though it has dangers. If it’s played as part of a campaign setting, the characters’ actions will have consequences; though it’s in the same setting as the publisher’s other supplements, this could be changed, primarily by changing the mine’s history.
