Queen Ezmeera

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Queen Ezmeera

Queen Ezmeera by Cliff Dunn is a role playing game supplement published by ZealZaddy for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 12 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one the Contents and one the Open Game License.

Queen EzmeeraThe first two pages of content are taken up by some links to Free City of Vadashar material, a sidebar, Welcome to the Free City of Vadashar, that is duplicated from other supplements and gives background and history of the city, and some details on using Queen Ezmeera in a non-Vadashar or a Vadashar campaign.

Queen Ezmeera: That’s Why the Lady is a Thief gives the history of Ezmeera, a thief nicknamed “Queen” because of her talents. She’s been active in the city for 50 years, arriving as a teenager fleeing Bhalkan, quickly gaining skills at tracking marks and working primarily as a second-story thief. Ezmeera prefers to work alone, partly due to the fact she doesn’t like other people very much, isn’t a people person and doesn’t think highly of others’ skills, but in her later years has been subbing out elements of a job, not always to the eventual benefit of those thieves. Her stats are given here, as well as three adventure hooks, which is how the characters could encounter her; as stated, if they are thieves involved in one of her jobs, this might not be good for them. Finally, there is a section for insults.

The Appendix has four new wondrous items; dust of sneezing, does what it says on the tin, sleeping dust, the same, and silent smoke bomblets, again pretty self-explanatory, and hinge grease which, no surprise, makes hinges, and other noisy metal parts, quiet.

Queen Ezmeera in Review

The PDF is bookmarked, but only the sidebar, Welcome to the Free City of Vadashar, is linked, making them essentially useless. The Contents is more thorough. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of pieces of colour stock art. Presentation is good.

As with others in this series, this supplement gives a great deal of detail on a single NPC. Should the character be used outside of the Free City, some of the background detail will need changing, but overall, that shouldn’t be too hard to do, making this a useful drop-in character for other campaigns. Queen Ezmeera is a nicely detailed NPC and can be found by clicking here.
