Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains - They of Many Colors

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – They of Many Colors

Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – They of Many Colors by Jeff C. Stevens is a role playing game supplement published by Jeff Stevens Games for use with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. The supplement is a sample from Potbellied Kobold’s Guide to Villains & Lairs 5E.

The supplement is available as a 13 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, two are ads and one the Open Game License. There is also a zip file with five PNG maps and a PNG VTT token.

Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains - They of Many ColorsAbout this Supplement explains that this was written for the Potbellied Kobold’s Guide to Villains & Lairs Kickstarter, how to use it and the Potbellied Kobold, who may have changed thanks to the events of Adventures from the Potbellied Kobold.

They of Many Colours describes the creature that goes by this name, a forest-dwelling feathered dragon that considers itself to be a god, and indeed is worshipped as such by some. Their motivation, minions and use in game are described.

Following this are stats for They and their followers.

The Canopy is They’s lair, and the different locations in it are described, together with a new magic item.

The final page has a map showing the full lair.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though short, has enough different sections that these would have been appreciated. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of error. There is a stock colour illustration for They, another colour image from Adventures and some custom black and white maps. Presentation is good.

They is a potentially serious opponent and, though the minions are not in the same level by far, they can still prove an annoyance, especially if they make use of the forest. They itself is perhaps confident enough that they won’t be subtle, but that doesn’t mean they’re easy to deal with. Potbellied Kobold 5E Villains – They of Many Colors is a decent little encounter that can be easily dropped into a campaign and can be found by clicking here.
