A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Mira’s Mawaa & Cantina

Mira’s Mawaa & Cantina by Millie Lavelle is a role playing game supplement published by Free League Publishing through the Free League Workshop Community Content Programme for use with Coriolis: The Third Horizon.

The supplement is available as a six page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover, one page is a quote by the late Mira Furlan (after whom this is named and familiar to many as Delenn on Babylon 5) and half a page is Credits and associated material.

Mira's Mawaa & CantinaThe opening paragraphs explain that this is a boarding house; a cheap and spartan place, but clean.

Overview starts by explaining where the place is located. It then describes what the cantina part looks like, including the kitchen, and then the mawaa, the lodging part, where there are rooms on two separate floors. Finally, the menu states there is only one dish, moussaka, and it’s only available during 2nd Watch.

In Your Coriolis has a paragraph suggesting how it can be used, followed by descriptions and stats for Mira and two customers.

In My Coriolis explains how the author used the location and talks about Babylon 5 and Mira Furlan, who died shortly before this was finished.

Mira’s Mawaa & Cantina in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that it doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text predominately has a two-column format, though in some places it drops to one, and appeared to be free of errors. There are no illustrations. Presentation is okay, though it’s a shame that the place isn’t mapped. That’s not entirely necessary, but it would have been nice.

This supplement is what it sets out to be; a simple, small location that can be used in the same way as the typical inn or tavern in a fantasy setting. A place to meet and eat, or perhaps rest as well. Mira’s Mawaa & Cantina is a decent little supplement and it can be found by clicking here.
