Mini Quest Double Feature: Revenge of the Kobold King

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Mini Quest Double Feature: Revenge of the Kobold King

Mini Quest Double Feature: Revenge of the Kobold King by David Dudka is a role playing game supplement published by Survive RPG for use with Dungeons & Dragons based systems although no specific system is mentioned. This is an adventure that is part of the Mini Quest series.

The supplement is a four page PDF that is available as a Pay What You Want PDF.

Mini Quest Double Feature: Revenge of the Kobold KingThis is, as the title suggests, an adventure in two parts, each of which takes up two pages. The first half, Kobold Caper, has the characters being hired to look into the disappearance of cattle from a border area. This involves investigating an underground cavern complex inhabited by kobolds, killing their king as a result.

The second half, Revenge of the Kobold King, has the characters returning to the border fortress from which they set out. The fortress comes under attack by another group of kobolds, led by the father of the first kobold king they slew who seems to hold a bit of a grudge as a result.

Mini Quest Double Feature: Revenge of the Kobold King in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at its length does not need them. The text maintains a two column format and some minor, grammatical, errors were noticed. There are a number of custom black and white illustrations as well as maps; presentation is good for a short supplement.

Like many of the adventures in this series, it doesn’t specify what levels it is aimed at; the GM will need to determine this before running the adventure.

The first half is a fairly standard adventure. The second half is rather different, in that the characters have to help defend a fortress from attack. They will need to go to various areas to help support the defenders.

If there is one real flaw, it is that an NPC needs to stay alive through the first part otherwise the second part will be derailed a bit, and the GM will need to come up with alternative motivations.

Mini Quest Double Feature: Revenge of the Kobold King is a decent enough adventure with some twists that can be checked out for free by clicking here.
