Mini-Dungeon #005: The Soularium

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Mini-Dungeon #005: The Soularium

Mini-Dungeon #005: The Soularium by Rory Toma is a role playing game supplement published by AAW Games for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. This is an adventure for 4-6 1st level characters and is also available in versions for Fantasy Grounds and Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.

Mini-Dungeon #005: The SoulariumThe supplement is available as a two-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $0.99, as a printed card for $1.99 or as both PDF and card for $2.39. The PDF is the version reviewed, although it was purchased at a reduced price during a sale.

About half of the front page is a map of the dungeon. The opening paragraph explains that the location is used by a cult – most of whom are neutral – by a quasit who is harvesting souls for the Abyss and its personal advancement. The dungeon itself is a simple below-ground complex.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, at only two pages, doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a two-column colour format and appeared to be free of errors. Bar the map, sadly not available in a player friendly version, there is a single colour illustration. Presentation is fine.

In order to save space in these mini-dungeons, neither stats nor the Open Game License are included. The OGL is linked to on the AAW Games site, whilst anything that needs stats has a hyperlink to what is now the legacy Pathfinder Reference Document website. If internet access isn’t available, either these will need printing out or the appropriate books will be needed for reference.

This is an interesting little dungeon, in that it isn’t typical. It can easily be dropped into practically any setting; all that’s really needed is an alley to drop the entrance into. Mini-Dungeon #005: The Soularium is a nice little side encounter and it can be found by clicking here.
