A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Lest Coin Flow Like Blood

Lest Coin Flow Like Blood by Luke Nicklin is a role playing game supplement published by Free League Publishing through the Free League Workshop Community Content Programme for use with Forbidden Lands.

The supplement is available as a five page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. The first page has some front matter as well as the Introduction.

Background explains that the characters are asked by an NPC to collect some money from a farmer who hasn’t been seen in some time. In truth, it is the farmer’s absence that is causing concern rather than the lack of money.

Lest Coin Flow Like BloodGetting Here explains the farm is quite close and that the characters should be required to spend the night either at the farm or in the farmhouse. A sidebar explains what actually happened at the farm.

Monsters and NPCs lists the characters encountered.

Locations just lists the parts of the farm; there’s no map.

Clues are what the characters uncover to find out what’s going on.

Events has the various events that happen from when the characters arrive.

Finally, the stats for the NPCs are given.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these are not needed. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a two-column black and white format and a number of minor errors were noticed. Bar the cover illustration, there are no others. Presentation is adequate.

There is, of course, something going on with the farm and the farmer, otherwise this would be a very short adventure. The characters need to uncover what happened, and they aren’t the only people there with plans. It may be difficult for them to work out what’s going on, even with clues, due to different people having different goals; this isn’t quite as straightforward as it looks. Lest Coin Flow Like Blood is a short adventure with a bit of a twist and it can be found by clicking here.
