Justice Denied

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Justice Denied

Justice Denied by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a 20 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.

The opening paragraphs explain that there was a much-hated dictator in the Sonora sector – the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space, though this isn’t stated – until he was overthrown and fled. He was recently spotted and the current prime minister of his planet wants the characters to bring him back to justice.

Justice DeniedPatron gives the patron’s stats.

The Villain does the same for him.

Complications are those things that make the mission more difficult. The villain isn’t as bad as depicted and, moreover, has committed no crimes where he’s living and capturing him will be a crime.

Key to the Island Base starts with a brief d12 encounter table before describing the various locations.

Roster of People at the Base has the stats for those found there.

The Submersible briefly describes this.

Roster of the Submersible has its crews’ stats.

Roster of Local Authority Reaction Force are stats for those who will be sent if the fugitive is attacked.

Conditions of Success is what the characters need to do to get paid.

The final page of content is a map of the island base.

Justice Denied in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. Bar the map and covers, there are no illustrations. Presentation is okay.

In theory, this is a pretty straightforward adventure; go to the island lair, kidnap the target and return for the money. There are plenty of problems, though, starting with the fact the kidnapping is itself illegal and moving on to things like the brutal dictator wasn’t as bad as currently portrayed. Successfully completing the mission may be difficult. Justice Denied is an okay adventure and it can be found by clicking here.
