A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Into the Terrorium (A Post-Apocalyptic Scenario for TSRPG)

Into the Terrorium (A Post-Apocalyptic Scenario for TSRPG) is a role playing game supplement published by Skirmisher Publishing for use with TSRPG.

The supplement is available as a 20-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1.99 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and one is an ad.

Into the Terrorium explains this is an adventure for post-apocalyptic America for four characters but can be scaled up or down.

Into the Terrorium (A Post-Apocalyptic Scenario for TSRPG)Background gives some details on the disaster in 2038 that made a mess of the world, and that this is 40 years after, where life is still hard but things are returning to a new normal.

In This Scenario explains that Greypool Corporation has become successful due to innovations in weapons and energy technology. Unknown to anyone, this is through reverse-engineering the technology from a crashed UFO. They had a research facility set up experimenting on gene-splicing Alien telepathy with ants. There were two teams, and the ants of one team died out whilst the others, now the size of large dogs, communicated with the alien and liberated it, capturing the humans.

Running the Scenario gives some hooks for involving the characters, options for helping the characters explore and potential items of interest – or value – that could be found.

Introduction has the characters arrive at the facility. This is followed by details on the facility itself, both inside and outside, and the ants that can be found there.

Possible Outcomes looks at various ways the adventure could end.

Extended Sessions or Campaigns explains how this could be integrated into a larger campaign.

Combat Challenges looks at options for if characters fail a combat Challenge; death is only one option.

This is followed by character cards for the four characters, with images, background and their stats and equipment.

The final page of content is the rules for TSRPG itself, meaning that this adventure works standalone; the rules do not need to be purchased separately. The game is a storytelling game that is played through a series of Challenges; details of how these work, success and failure and difficulty are given.

Into the Terrorium (A Post-Apocalyptic Scenario for TSRPG) in Review

The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is decent. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of colour images, some of which appear to be custom art, others tweaked images, as well as some colour maps. Presentation is decent.

Though this is billed as a post-apocalyptic adventure, it could, with some slight tweaking, be made into one in a modern setting; perhaps the biggest change is to get rid of the intelligent dog amongst the characters. This makes it more flexible than it might seem. Though it isn’t truly a sandbox, once at the facility, characters do have various options for deciding where they go. It is best suited as a one-shot as stands, bit as mentioned there are tips for using it in something larger.
