A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Infinite Space: Futuristic Settlements

Infinite Space: Futuristic Settlements by Louis Porter Jr. is a role playing game supplement published by LPJ Design for use with the Starfinder role playing game. Starfinder is the futuristic version of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game published by Paizo Publishing. As such it is covered by the Open Game License with some of it being considered Open Game Content as a result.

This is a bookmarked PDF which is available from RPGNow as a Pay What You Want supplement. The PDF has seven pages with one page being the Open Game License and two pages ads for other supplements. Around two thirds of the first page is an illustration.

Infinite Space: Futuristic SettlementsThis is a supplementary set of options for settlements as seen in the Starfinder rulebook. This is divided into two sections.

New Government Types provides six types of government, logically enough. These are generally pretty logical types of government that would be seen in many settings. Utopian Experiment is the only truly unusual one. There is a short paragraph on each type.

New Settlement Qualities describes thirty four qualities for settlements. Again, most of these are pretty logical, with Pocket Universe being the most interesting.

Infinite Space: Futuristic Settlements in Review

The PDF is well bookmarked for its length, with each government type and settlement quality being bookmarked, as well as the two main sections. Navigation is therefore well above average for a short supplement.

The text maintains a two column format and no errors were noticed. The layout is a full colour one that would appear to be LPJ Design’s standard for Starfinder supplements. There is only one illustration, a decent colour one on the front page.

This is a short and fairly simple supplement. There isn’t much out of the ordinary in the content, as many of the concepts are logical enough, but it should give a GM a helping hand when creating new settlements, saving a bit of time (some of the ideas could easily be come up with by a GM themselves, but time is often limited). It’s well laid out and looks decent. Infinite Space: Futuristic Settlements, being Pay What You Want, can be obtained for free to check it out by clicking here.
